Jake Lowen

Jake came to the Kansas AFL-CIO in November 2025 after serving 18 years as Director of the Wichita-Hutchinson Labor Federation, where he led a coalition of 24 affiliated local unions across south-central Kansas. During his tenure, Jake managed comprehensive federation operations including financial oversight, political action coordination, and strategic planning while delivering consistent electoral victories for pro-labor candidates.
Prior to his federation work, Jake served as Director of Organizing at Hope Street Youth Development from 2004 to 2007, and was selected as a Training Team Member for National People's Action, conducting intensive organizer trainings nationwide since 2004. Jake has extensive experience in campaign technology and data systems, serving as administrator for the statewide Kansas Labor Action Network voter file and developing ImVotingUnion.com, the state's candidate endorsement platform. Through his consulting practices, Kansas Grassroots Consulting and GPS Impact, he has provided strategic and technical solutions to progressive campaigns since 2009.
Jake holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Kansas, where he was active with the Kaw Valley Living Wage Alliance, helping to implement Kansas's first local living wage ordinance. He has served on the Kansas Action Network Executive Board and was named to Campaigns & Elections Magazine's "The Influencers 500" in 2013.
